Life Is So Miserable
The Community Of Miserable People Supporting Each Other While Suffering Through Miseries & Tragedies
It used to be that the only thing we had to fear was fear itself. Today we should fear our ignorance & pessimism.

This site listens to people talk about their misery & problems. This site is a home base for a community of people who listen & assist each other in resolving their personal miseries and problems.
All visitors are anonymous. Postings change & are added.
A site visitor answered the question, "Do you expect to live a life of peaceful bliss?" as follows.

"I hope so. I pray for it most everyday. Maybe that's selfish. I don't necessarily want to be in a "peaceful bliss", just living life without so much fear and in a place in my life where I feel good about myself and am proud of what I'm doing, what my goals are, and what I'm working toward. A sense of fulfillment I guess. I hope for everyone to have a full and happy life but I guess it's not realistic."

Misery  >>>  After 40 years of having my house continuously increase in value, it has lost around 6% since early 2007. I realize that most other houses have lost value but I still feel less wealthy. A friend tried to explain to me that if I sell my house to buy another, yes, I may get less for my house, but the house I buy will cost less than a year ago. So I really don't need any more money than ever to buy my next house. But I still feel less rich.
Mark K., CA
Housing values across the US and around the world have declined over the 2007-2008 period. This means that if you buy a house today, you will pay less than you would have paid a year ago.

Misery  >>>   I have bought stocks in US corporations since the mid-80s and made around 5% to 25% during various years. Now, since October, 2007, when stock markets hit all-time highs, my stock holdings are going down... except for a few energy-related stocks.
Pessimist, WY
Anyone who uses the buy-and-hold investment strategy can now cost-average down and will likely -- over a few more years -- make still more profit.

Misery  >>>   Over the last year the price of gasoline went higher than it has ever been. It is now even higher even after adjustment for inflation. And that's the highest real price since the first OPEC oil embargo of 1973.
Alice D., AZ
Everyone is living through today's still-mild inflation. Soon -- and maybe already -- the price of gasoline will be so high that demand declines and that forces the price to fall. Soon, unless the price falls, or at least stabilizes -- the OPEC nations will be selling less oil!

Misery  >>>   There is no solid leadership to help the US lead the world out of the conundrum of terrorism.
Anthony O., NM
At some point -- when situations get so hopeless -- as always happens throughout history, a qualified leader will emerge.

Misery  >>>   My car cost me a lot of money. It has a five-year warranty and gets around 19 mpg. It is very safe and even with the moronic drivers running red lights, I feel safe.
M. H., VT
There are more high-quality, easy-on-gas, safe, comfortable cars to choose from today than ever before. And car loans are more available and at lower rates than at anytime in recent decades.

Misery  >>>   My neighbor lost her job last month. She had been employed by the same company for 12 years. I am worried about my job.
Raoul R., IL
Today's unemployment rate -- 5.5% -- is relatively low. For a few years the US had record-setting low unemployment. Consider the 10.1% in June, 1983, & the 7.8% in June, 1992.

Misery  >>>   My friends use words like terrified, disgusted, and scary to describe what they call a this mess that we Americans are in. Their list of problems making up their mess includes a protracted war (they know not how long WWI & WWII lasted), $4-a-gallon gas, somewhat increasing food prices, insecurity over their jobs because they realize they are not really needed, a stock market that is acting like a stock market, a declining housing market (for the first time in 40 years), and more.

Some pessimists' attitudes are taking a hit. Some people's sense of pessimism is palpable. People are falling for the media's inaccurate and pessimistic slanting of most events. Americans are questioning where they are and where they are going. Some people wonder who is able to ride to their rescue.
OhWoesMe

Hey Americans, how about riding to your own rescue. Nothing is permanently miserable. Get to work and make things better. But don't be foolish enough to believe anyone -- not even a lying politician -- is able to, or will make your life as good as you can make it if you try!
